The Foster Family Initiative offers monthly support meetings to encourage and equip those families who have accepted the call to be foster (adoptive) parents. These meetings include a chance for you to fellowship with others who understand the unique challenges that come as you say yes to this call. We also provide a time of education to equip you with the tools necessary to succeed. If you are currently a foster or adoptive parent, or if you play a support role in a Care Community please plan to attend our next meeting listed below, at 6:30 pm in Room 10. Childcare for ages 2-10 years old is available only upon registration.

We are having a special guest speaker for our next 3 sessions, for January, February, and March. Megan Deaton is a licensed foster parent at Wellspring Lutheran Services and will be speaking to us about Trauma Informed Parenting. We will learn how trauma is defined, how it impacts our foster kids, and what we can do to take care of ourselves in the midst of caring for traumatized kids. This will apply for continuing education credit for licensed parents as well as great information for all involved in fostering children.

Please register and let us know you’re coming! We look forward to seeing you!

  • Be like close family friends to the foster children.
  • Be proactive to provide child care, transportation, meals, and other forms of day/evening support for a Foster Family 2 or 3 times each month.
  • Pursue the needed approvals (background check, driver’s license, auto insurance, etc.)
  • Attend a two hour training session prior to your first assignment to a Care Community.
  • Attend monthly support meetings

Orientation Sessions

Thank you for your interest in Foster Family Initiative! This is a dynamic ministry with many areas for you to become involved. Our goal is to create a Care Community around each foster family (or newly adoptive family) to love and care for these children that have found themselves in such hard places.

We would love to have you come to an orientation so we can communicate more clearly the vision and the various opportunities available to serve, as well as answer any of your questions. Just come and find out more, no commitment necessary. Please complete the form below to attend one of these sessions.
